As a Western trained physician, treating disease was the focus of most of my formal medical education. But my real love in medicine has always been exploring different energy systems to stimulate and improve the flow of energy (Chi) throughout the body/mind/spirit pathways. The Eastern medicine concept of treating the energy systems of the body, while still addressing lifestyle and physical issues, makes so much sense to me.
Lifestyle changes such as regular exercise, a clean diet, drinking more water, much more sleep, stretching, deep breathing, being grateful, releasing old emotional trauma, time in the woods, etc. improves health in large part by stimulating energy flow in and around the body. Clearly, energy flow is very important for good health.
These sessions are not intended to treat a specific illness or medical problem but rather improve energy flow on many levels throughout the body/mind/spirit matrix. Most individuals experience a deep relaxation response and many report major improvements in physical and emotional health issues. However, these sessions are not a substitute for regular health care by a primary care physician.
Because of the coronavirus, in order to offer a group session while still protecting all participants from viral transmission, necessary changes in line with Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s May 1st guidelines will be implemented. These changes will include each person having no physical symptoms the previous two weeks, wearing a mask or face covering, and bringing their own blankets. Acupuncture needle stimulation will be eliminated for the foreseeable future. Bringing hand sanitizer and/or Clorox wipes for the yoga mats is optional (yoga mats will be clean). Hand washing before and after the session is mandatory. I will be wearing a face covering while playing the bowls and chanting. You will no longer have your heads next to the bowls but your feet instead. That’s for social distancing and your safety.
The 1 1/4 hour long program will take place at Peak Brain Performance, 97 E. Wilson Bridge Rd., Worthington, Ohio 43085. The Saturday in June has not been confirmed but will be posted when known. Two sessions will be offered each day at 10:30 am and 1:00 pm. The cost is $30/person with each session limited to 5 participants to insure proper social distancing. For further information or to register, please call Chris at my office 740-392-6098.
Dr. Bazzoli’s similar 1 1/4 hour sound sessions at Shakti Fit and Hot Yoga Escape yoga studios in Mt. Vernon, Ohio are on hold until yoga studios are allowed to reopen. These classes will be a more general sound program and are open to 7-8 participants. This larger session will also no longer include any acupuncture needles. For details or to register for these programs, please refer to their respective websites, http://www.shaktifit.com/workshops or http://www.hotyogaescape.com.
Important Notes: The VEB registration fee for the Worthington program is payable at the event (check or cash only). Participants are responsible for the full fee if cancelled within 24 hrs of the event.
Individuals need to wear relaxing clothing. Participants will be laying on yoga mats on the floor during the session, so each individual needs to be able to physically get down on the floor and upright afterwards. In Worthington, one yoga mat (1/2″ thickness) but no blankets will be provided. Please bring your own mat if you need more cushioning and your own blankets for warmth and head and leg support.
Because of chemical sensitivities, please refrain from wearing perfume, cologne or scents of any kind including cigarette smoke clothing. Please arrive 15 minutes early so the session can begin on time.
